Printer Rollers
Printers are not terribly complicated machines, but they do still have quite a few parts making them up. With so many parts, and so many moving parts, something is liable to break at some point in your printer’s lifetime. The tray moves, the printer rollers move, the buttons move and the printer wheels move. Some movement is automatic and some is manually instigated, but wherever there are mechanically or electronically moving parts along with sometimes unpredictable additions (such as the paper in your printer) the likelihood of breakage is high.

Printer Rollers
Printer rollers are a prime candidate for breakage in your printer. They are at risk because of the potential for paper jams. When the individual pieces of paper that easily fit underneath printer rollers get stuck together from static electricity or small folds, problems start. A large bunch of paper or even one piece of paper that gets crumpled and folded over itself several times can reek havoc on printer rollers. In some printers, there are multiple printer rollers that work together. A paper jam can be particularly harmful to printer rollers that become forced to work against each other. Clean laser printer rollers are less likely to have problems because there is less chance for a static charge to build, or for extra debris to get caught in the works. The easy clean for printer rollers is a damp cloth. Let the printer rollers run, and hold the damp cloth against them until the surface is entirely wiped down.

Replacing Printer Rollers
If your cleaning did not help the printer rollers and they do need replaced, you have a couple of different options. Depending on the age of your printer, a used printer roller may be a viable way to go. If your printer is too new, used printer rollers won’t be available, but if it is too old, you may not want to trust the used rollers that are out there. In any case, you may need to buy a new printer roller. Of course you’d like to find a cheap printer roller since it is a maintenance repair and not really an improvement in the printer. Searching online, you’ll probably be able to find a discount printer roller, even those that are brand new, that someone has and cannot use. Printer rollers may be easily damaged, but they are also easily replaceable.
