HP 970
The HP 970 printer comes in two forms. The 970 cxi and the 970 cse. The printers are comparable in price and capability. The major difference is that the 970 cse accepts more paper forms and sizes including glossy paper. While the price may be acceptable to most printer buyers, you aren’t really going to find a discount HP 970. It’s possible to get a cheap HP 970 printer, as compared to new, if you buy one used. The 970 from HP is a pretty good buy. It saves you money by being able to easily print dual sided documents. It is however heavy for its size and may be difficult to move from place to place. Also, if you are hoping to be cost effective all the time, you may want to check out the ink cartridge prices for the 970 (cxi or cse). Both inkjet cartridges are very expensive. Even if you do find an HP 970 cheap, you will spend the money later on ink. The HP wireless printer options typically network, but the 970 is designed for individual use. Any printer like the HP 970 will be better for single computer hookups though because it is designed for high quality printing. It would be much more expensive to allow several computers, as in an office setting, to print from the 970 at the same time. Because of the high quality capabilities, look into the HP 970 camera accessories. The photo printing is more than agreeable. If you find an HP 970 for sale and decide to investigate more the potential of bringing one home, you should know the following about this printer: Inkjet color printer 600 X 600 dpi (b/w) 2400 X 1200 dpi (color) 12 ppm (b/w) 10 ppm (color) Compatible with PC or Mac The color resolution on the 970 is again, great. With a color ribbon, the black printing is also crisp and clear. The speed is not fantastic, but workable in a home situation. If you need to leave the 970 alone to finish printing, just leave it alone. Paper jams are not a consistent problem with this printer.
